D.C. METRO SHOWDOWN 3

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

UPDATE!

It is official! The event will be held at the "National Convention Center" in Lansdowne, VA. General Admission will be $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Ringside Seats will be $40 in advance, $50 at the door. We will proudly feature concessions by Romano's Pizzeria of Sterling, VA! (Prepare your tastebuds for a real treat!)

The event will be held on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008. Our event will feature two divisions of amateur MuayThai, SanDa Kickboxing, and novice MMA matches.

The two divisions of MuayThai will be determined by one's fighting experience. Those with fewer than 8 fighter, or 5 wins, will fight in matches that are 3x two-minute rounds with a one-minute break. These fighters will be required to wear headgear, elbow pads, and shinguards. Fighters who have a minimum of 8 fights, or 5 wins, will compete in matches of 5x two-minute rounds with a one-minute break. These fighters will be required to wear elbow pads. Other safety gear (headgear & shinguards) will need to be agreed upon by both camps.

Our MuayThai matches will now be "FULL RULES". This means that fighters may use any technique legal in sport MuayThai, using the rules set forth by the World MuayThai Council (WMC) in Bangkok, Thailand.

The SanDa Kickboxing portion of the show will be serving as the qualifying matches for upcoming title matches on the "Battle of Brooklyn" event at Gleason's Boxing Gym in April of 2008.

The amateur MMA matches will be for novices only. To qualify as a novice, a fighter must have fewer than 3 MMA matches. Our novice MMA matches will be officiated using Nevada Unified Rules.

So far, we have a number of local teams planning to send their fighters to our event, including:

Baltimore Jiu Jitsu

Baltimore San Shou

Capital Jiu Jitsu

Fightworks

Hybrid Academy

Jeff Gordon's

MMA Institute

NOVA MMA (Team Lloyd Irvin)

Ohio MuayThai

One Spirit

Pro-Fitness

Sit-Dragonleg (Pittsburgh, PA)

Virginia Beach Academy (VBAMA)

....and we are still taking figher applications! Get your fighters on this card by clicking the link above for our Fighter Application, and emailing the information to us (email address is also provided with the link above)!!!

Our event is being sanctioned by the Global Combat Alliance (GCA). Please click on the link to visit the website for more specific information regarding the rules of the event.

We are attempting to make arrangements for a very special guest to be in attendance for the evenings event. Por.Kru Kumron Vaitayanon (Master K) was the very first coach to have a MuayThai fight team in the State of Virginia, dating back to Fall of 1992! It was through Master K's hard work, laying the groundwork for the sport on the East Coast of the USA, that we are now able to offer the fighters and fans these events today!

SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2007

Khun Kao Promotions "MuayThai Smoker" event was held at "Pro-Fitness & Martial Arts" gym in Sterling, VA. We chose this date to coincide with the WKA North American Championship Tournament to be held in Richmond, VA. The WKA Nor-Am's are scheduled for the weekend of July 13th - 15th. By holding our event 1 month prior, we gave our local MuayThai competitors an opportunity to hone their skills and be on top of their game for the Tournament.
