KARATE COLLEGE 2007

Thursday, June 21st - Sunday, June 24th

*CANCELLED*

No, not the Karate College seminar itself, but my participation in this summers classes. Dr. Jerry Beasely and I unfortunately experienced a miscommunication regarding my intent to return as an instructor this year. Though that has been cleared up, it was too late to add me back to the schedule. I look forward to returning to Karate College's lineup of guest instructors in 2008!

Don't miss this year's "Karate College" seminar at Radford University (Radford, VA). Each year, Kru Brooks joins the nation's top instructors at the East Coast's PREMIERE multiple martial arts seminar!

Khun Kao Promotions - MuayThai "Smoker" Event

June 16th, 2007

Pro-Fitness & Martial Arts Gym

21580 Atlantic Blvd, #125

Sterling, VA

I am very pleased to announce that this event was a resounding SUCCESS!!! We had a total of 10 fights with a "Standing Room Only" crowd. We were even able to feature 2 Chinese Sanda Kickboxing matches, which really seemed to be a huge hit with the crowd! But easily, the highlight of the evening was bout #6, the MuayThai exhibition match between Jack & Joe, Pro-Fitness Gym's 7 year old twin fighters!!!!!!

There are WAY too many people to say "Thank You!" to..... I am trying to contact everyone individually with my appreciation!

Keep your eyes & ears open! We are tentatively planning our next event for mid-September!

EAST MEETS WEST SEMINAR 2007

EXTREME THAIBOXING CHALLENGE

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Knights of Columbus Hall

Lynbrook, New York

I was invited to serve as an official for the "Extreme Thaiboxing Challenge" event held in Lynbrook (Long Island), NY. This was a USKBA sanctioned event that featured numerous title bouts, including Jose Villarisco of Lloyd Irvin's Martial Arts Academy vs. Eric Ruiz of PMAA for the USKBA featherweight title of the USA!

Jose won a very close and exciting match. His opponent, Eric Ruiz, was an incredible fighter. The fight could have gone either way up until round 5 when Jose's attacks to the body with punching and straight knees finally took their toll, sending Eric to the canvas for an 8-count.

The event was an incredible experience. I got to renew my associations with the promoters, coaches, fighters, and teams in the New York area. It was also nice to have the opportunity to hang out with Lloyd Irvin, Jose, and the team. I don't often get to be part of these opportunities, and it was nice to have that chance!

Congratulations to Jose for winning his title match! Congratulations to *ALL* the fighters, teams, and officials for such a successful show! And congratulations to Extreme Lacosta for hosting such an entertaining event!

MUAYTHAI DAY

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

The "Valhalla MMA & MuayThai Day" fight event was held Saturday evening, March 17th, at the Dulles Sportsplex in Sterling, VA. Apart from some glitches and delays that are typically associated with these events, the show was a success! The event featured 4 novice MuayThai "smoker" matches on the afternoon undercard, and 2 amateur MuayThai "smoker" matches held over for the evenings fight card.

See the PROMOTIONS page for the official MuayThai results! The Valhalla MMA will be posted on the WKA's official RESULTS page.

AYUTTAYA PRO-FITNESS IN PHUCKET, THAILAND TITLE FIGHT

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Bashir, an Ayuttaya Pro-Fitness MuayThai fighter, has been traveling to train & fight in Thailand regularly over the last year. When in Thailand, he trains and fights out of Rawai MuayThai Camp in Phucket, Thailand. On his last expedition, his hard work & dedication earned him the opportunity to fight for a local MuayThai title against Irishman, Denis, at an event held in Patong Beach.

Bashirtitlefight

Bashir is the 2nd fighter from the upper-left

Bashir started strong and was winning in the early rounds. However, he was caught with a strong blow in round 3 that caused his nose to bleed so profusely that the officials called the fight.

Please join me in congratulating Bashir for his efforts! His hard work and training ethics will earn him another chance at that (or another) title in short time, which we have no doubt he will win!

COMBAT SPORTS CHALLENGE 18

"River City Rumble"

Saturday, December 9th, 2007

Richmond, VA

KHUNKAO.COM Gym's Eric Kolesar won a unanimous decision victory over JG Sanchez of Maryland Thai-Boxing. This was a very technical match between two seasoned fighters, both displaying excellent technique, defense, and strategy.

JG started the match strong, disrupting Eric's timing and keeping him off balance, but in rounds 2 & 3, Eric settled down and began to control the match, frequently beating JG to the punch. Both fighters deserve to be congratulated for an outstanding performance!

Eric's next match is expected to be "King of the Ring" in Hampton, VA in mid to late April.
